After over three decades in the film industry, Tollywood superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee is making his debut on the small screen, as a host in a Bengali reality show based on harmony and understanding among family members.
“Yes, it marks a new innings in my career. I have never interacted with the public in this way and I am loving every moment of it,” Prosenjit said at the launch of the show “Banglar Shera Paribar”.
Asked how he was adapting himself to the two different roles of an actor and a host, the 49-year-old actor said, “Being a fine actor needs a different talent and being a good host of a reality show requires another set of skills.”
Denying that appearing on the small screen will diminish his star appeal, he said, “For shooting of this show, I had to learn many things. I had to understand the format. I realised it is a different ball game.
“But if you ask me why now, I will rather say it would have happened eventually.”
On whether the entry of superstars like Aamir Khan and Salman Khan had goaded Zee Bangla channel to rope in Prosenjit, director of the show Subhankar Chattopadhyay said, “We had been toying with the idea for some time.”
In its quest to find “Bengal's Best Family”, each episode of the show has two families competing and finally one will win the title.
